Some pics from the last day of 2020 and last few days of loop run event. The Great Egret bird I’ve seen daily didn’t seem tired of passers-by, so as the monitor lizard swimming care-freely. After 46 loops (each loop with 46 & 77 separate stairs), plus 1 additional loop I’ve forgotten to switch the @garminsg. Enough said that my next visit to MacRitchie will be with fishing rod instead of lacing running shoe.

Thanks @hksgultra and @thegreenrace for organising this clever & thoughtful first-ever virtual race Twin City Ultra - HK vs SG. Guess which city won? Next event will be on 12th Dec 2021.

Reminiscing last Chiang Mai 5 days run retreat with @thailand.mountain.trail
Great memories made. Night walk along tiny lane in the rice field that led to village event where we handed in gifts to the kids - still one of best NYE memories. We then returned for a lovely dinner by the rice terrace where songs from Édith Piaf and Johny Cash played in the air. And nothing more special other than opportunity to meet new runners friends (plus the 2 dogs that accompanied us). Camping on the second night was fun too!

Happy New Year 2021. Brighter, and safer with positive outlook in new normal world.

Getting back on trail rather slow & steady 👵🏼🐢 (have been MIA to avoid the crowd in this Covid period). Enjoying the green nature and reservoir. Perfectly timed with pleasant morning weather at the moment (26 -28 C). Day 10 so far doing this loop run @hksgultra by @thegreenrace.Halfway to go 😃

Some highlights - started with the weekend of @ufitsingapore To Santa fundraising killed two birds with one stone (thanks @trifitphysiosg for inviting), few days of drizzle and mud, a blue Malayan coral snake under the legs (photography credit @yeuhuanphoto), monkey attacked my bike 🙉 (kept my water bottles here), the usual monitor lizard digging the dirt and unlucky day where soles went disintegrated (Buff saved the day).

7 years ago we fundraised @aljalilauae by doing what we loved doing. We’ve crossed-country on foot for 11 days, average running of 49km daily. From one emirate(states) to another (7 altogether) that began in Abu Dhabi, we slept at various locations in a motorhome/RV that managed to park at shopping mall, wadi, desert, hospital near seaside, youth centre, petrol station, and 2 hotels compound - except for 1 night spent in the actual room (courtesy of @babalshamshotel😊). Final day (day 11) we ran from Sharjah to Dubai, and finished at the @burjkhalifa to commemorate the National Day. The scarves on our neck were gifted to us came with printed @expo2020dubai (after Dubai won few months back) - which is now due to Covid is scheduled to next year.

Recently, I’ve heard amazing @Ghanisouley ran 45km for 30 days. What a way to enjoy the country and test the endurance.
.
Here to challenging ourselves even when there’s not many organised race out there! And here to December, month of giving & spending time with friends and people you love.

Breaking 6 months of sort of ’digital detox’ (3 weeks away to be precise) - just occasional Story & commenting to maintain connections (please don't shoot me 😩). So here’s to reliving the pleasant trail experience at Estonia Ultra Trail 2019 (Race article got published in Run SG mag Oct/Nov 19 issue). Smile yes! Running along single track of tall wildflower bushes and sharp grasses may not looked as breazy, especially on uneven surface while maintaining pace and avoiding the nasty prickles. Joy nicely captured by Yuri Vsivtsev @jvimgs (more action packed in this account go check!)

A few hours ago @dalatultratrail race began in hig

A few hours ago @dalatultratrail race began in highland Vietnam. A DNS (Did Not Start) for me sadly. I was excited to race in the first 100km organised this year and very much looking forward to returning after two years in the row running the 70km in stunning pines land.
.
But the border is still shut and just yesterday breathing into Phase 2 (ticked off 74 days of lockdown/isolation). The first weekend of dining out and meet up with human friends.
.
FYI Vietnam has done so well in controlling this pandemic despite the 97m population and its border with China. I heard this on @bbcworldservice more than a month ago. Wishing the organiser and runners a safe and successful event.
.
On that note, we don’t need a second wave. So please be vigilant wherever you are!! Safe distancing, elbow, wave, and namaste only.😷
.
